Christine Hill

We were delighted that Christine Hill, a director of R W Hill (Farms), was able to take time out of her busy schedule to speak at our Spring Lunch.

As Christine comes from a  long line of farmers, unsurprisingly,  agriculture was her chosen career.  However, her head mistress at school refused to accept that this was a ‘proper’ career for a girl, encouraging Christine to study biochemistry at university instead. Although Christine was still passionate about agriculture, she qualified as a science teacher, taking up a post at a Norfolk primary school.

After attending agricultural college for a year, she gave up teaching to take up management of the family farm, as well as bringing up a family.

Former interests include being a governor at Easton College for many years, and  the first female chair person of the National Farmers’Union in Norfolk. She  is currently President of Norfolk Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.
